Who are we?
The Center for Interprofessional Education promotes and facilitates curricula that advance teamwork and excellence in health care through collaboration with the AHC schools and colleges.
The Center for Interprofessional Education was chartered December 12, 2006 by the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center Deans of the schools of dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health and veterinary medicine.
Also in December 2006, the AHC Deans Council authored a Leadership Statement in Interprofessional Education (link to pdf) that deepened their commitment to and support for interprofessional education and stated their intent to embed it in their educational programs. As a result, the Center has developed the following priority initiatives:

Interprofessional Outcomes
As a result of students participating in interprofessional courses, events and activities and experiences, they will:
- students will know about the roles of other health professionals;
- students will be able to work with other health professionals in the context of a team where each member has a clearly defined role;
- students will learn how to apply disciplinary strengths of health professionals for their highest and best value in health promotion, prevention, and care delivery
