CIPE > What is Interprofessional Education?

Interprofessional education occurs when students from the health professions and related disciplines learn together about the concepts of health care and the provision of health care services toward improving the effectiveness and the quality of health care. Although effective interprofessional education may occur in different ways, it generally involves the following elements:
We endorse the definition from the Center for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education (CAIPE), 2002, which says that ˜Interprofessional Education occurs when two or more professions learn with, from and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of care.”™
